Welcome to Ohjo's Empire

I initially started this blog to keep a written account of my hamsters and their breeding patterns so that their memories will forever live long after they are gone.

It all started when I decided to get a hamster after finishing my NS. In the past, my family had dogs, mice, gerbils, rabbits, birds, terrapins, hermit crabs and even Spiders. At times, we also took home stray cats. After being petless for a couple of years, I approached a friend and received my first hamster, Ohjo. She was a Normal Winter White with a bad attitude towards other hamsters. Legend has it that she disfigured the face of a male sibling during her childhood.

Despite her adamant nature, she learnt how to respond to her name and was even able to bite the cage to get my attention whenever she was hungry or wanted some warmth. It was also fun watching her antics as she scampered around the bars and ceilling of the cage.

It was only 6 months later when 2 new Winter Whites, Monkey (Pearl) and Carpet (Normal), joined her that sparked the beginning of the empire.
